At ESS the safety and welfare of our clients and team are paramount. Our fitness assessment and training programs have been designed by qualified and experienced industry professionals specialising in fitness training, coaching and sports-physiotherapy. ESS believes safety begins before the adventure. Each comprehensive training program is designed to prepare participants for the specific physical demands of the chosen adventure, prior to departure.

Not only are ESS leaders fully trained, we ensure that our clients are trained appropriately for every adventure they undertake. Unique to ESS, the professionally developed training is based on the assessment of medical history and fitness, aligned to the challenges and demands that we know each adventure presents. Furthermore, each program can be individually customised.

One or more certified field medics accompany every adventure. A comprehensive professional medical kit including emergency medical supplies and specialist equipment is carried on every adventure. Medics are fully trained in the use of all emergency equipment. A physician has overseen the medical kit inventory including approved medications and emergency supplies and equipment. ESS has contingencies in place for dependable communication by satellite phone, and rapid evacuation in the unlikely event of illness or accidental injury.

A physician and/or registered nurse may accompany longer treks, as required. ESS will advise clients of all requisite inoculations and other medical precautions that need to be completed well before departure.

ESS portable ration packs ensure all individual nutritional and fluid needs will be met based on assessment of the energy demands of each adventure. Our expert nutritionist can also cater for special dietary needs and exclusions so no one need miss out on an adventure because of dietary restrictions.
