Mark Jamar & Tom Couch Present
Kokoda 2013

Join AFL Footballers Mark Jamar & Tom Couch on this unforgettable physical and emotional journey

Renowned as one of the most challenging and rewarding trekking experiences, the Kokoda Track in Papuan New Guinea stretches 96km through the jungle of the Owen Stanley ranges. The track also carves its way through Australia's military history in the Pacific, begun when Japanese forces landed in Papua on the 21st July 1942. On this unforgettable physical and emotional journey, ESS trekkers will follow the path of the Australian withdrawal in awe of the courage, endurance, mate-ship and sacrifice of the untrained and ill prepared Australian soldiers who halted the advance of the Japanese Imperial Army.

 Mark Jamar

" I've always trained and worked hard in my AFL career. This has inevitably led me to seek out challenges in all walks of life. The physical and emotional challenge of trekking Kokoda along with its history really appeals to me. The teamwork required and watching others achieve their goals will make this a very special journey."

 Tom Couch

"I love walking the Kokoda track becuase it is a tough physical challenge, but also an incredibly rewarding experience. After completing my first treck, I felt such an incredible sense of achievement, equal to the one I felt after my AFL debut. I want to help others experience that feeling!"
