Selection Criteria

Selection of recipients for the ESS Athlete Development Scholarship is based on the following requirements:

Recipients must:

be Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents only
be Victorian Residents only
be 15 years or older at the time of application to be eligible to apply
demonstrate outstanding sporting performance in their chosen sport, and
demonstrate a significant contribution to their chosen sport

Scholarship Selection and Conditions

Selection of the successful applicants will be determined by a Scholarship Panel, is merit based and will be made through a competitive application, assessment and interview process.

Selection will be in accordance with the principles of social justice, equity and gender equality.
Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis.
Continuation of the Scholarship is contingent upon successful completion of annual academic requirements and satisfactory progress toward achievement of their sporting goals.
Scholarships are not automatically renewable for subsequent years. Reapplication for continuation is required and subject to review by the Scholarship Panel, with no guarantee of selection in subsequent years.
Acceptance of a scholarship requires an athlete to agree to the terms and conditions detailed in the formal Letter of Offer.
Athletes must adhere to all rules outlined in the Scholarship Agreement. Scholarships may be withdrawn for non compliance.
200 Athlete Development Scholarships may be awarded although not all scholarships will be awarded each year if, in the opinion of the selectors, the athletes fail to meet selection criteria.
Successful athletes will be notified in writing. Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified.
The decision of the Scholarship Panel is final.
Certifications are awarded through a recognised training organisation and are nationally recognised.
